The intended use seems to be for gum massage between teeth, but in my opinion a more significant purpose is achieved by gently dragging the tip around all gum lines. Removes plaque in crevices that toothbrush bristles can't get at no matter how hard you try. It does the same thing for the gumlines at the fronts and backs of your teeth that floss does for the gumlines between teeth.
This item seems to be disappearing from stores, which is too bad because I think it's probably more effective than the much more expensive gadgets that companies would rather convince you to buy.
These are the replacement tips. The handle is sold separately.
